New chapter for Videoland: Viaplay Netherlands now part of DPG Media
As of today, Viaplay's Dutch operations are part of DPG Media. This marks the beginning of a new phase for Videoland. The Dutch activities of Viaplay include sports programming and sports rights. The employees of Viaplay Netherlands are transitioning to Videoland, part of DPG Media, bringing their knowledge and experience in sports, programming, and production with them.
For subscribers, nothing changes today. Current subscriptions, subscription prices, and apps for Videoland and Viaplay remain unchanged at this time. Viaplay subscribers retain access to their familiar app, TV channels, and sports offering as they know it. New Viaplay subscribers can also continue to subscribe to the Viaplay streaming service under current terms, both directly and through existing distribution partners.
In the coming period, the Videoland team is working on further developing the sports offering. In the course of 2027, Videoland expects to announce more details. Freedom of choice for subscribers remains central. Sports will remain a separate offering alongside existing Videoland subscriptions. This way, subscribers can choose which package suits them. Existing Videoland subscribers keep their current subscription and only pay for sports if they choose to do so.
Ellen van den Berghe, Director of Streaming Netherlands at DPG Media: "Videoland has grown in recent years into the largest local streaming service in the Netherlands. With this step, we build further on our ambition to be the place for stories, creators, and live moments you don't want to miss. Thanks to the knowledge, experience, and sports offering of Viaplay, we can make Videoland relevant at even more moments for Dutch viewers."
