About the Journalism Talent Traineeship

Each year, the Journalism Talent Traineeship offers a programme for people with no formal journalism training to learn everything there is to know about the profession. Employing nearly 2,000 reporters, DPG Media breathes journalism, and our editorial teams are always on the lookout for talented media creators. But we also want our newsrooms to better reflect the diversity of our country, with people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. A wider range of perspectives will only enrich the reporting of our trusted news titles. This five-month traineeship offers emerging journalistic talent the opportunity to be trained as media creators.

2025 edition of the Journalism Talent Traineeship underway

The fourth edition of the Journalism Talent Traineeship started on 7 March 2025. We welcomed 14 new trainees this year – people without a background in journalism, brought together by a shared passion for the profession. As in previous editions, the 2025 cohort will be trained as media creators.

“Of course we try to look at things from other people’s perspectives, but sometimes that’s just not possible, which makes it hard to think of the right questions to ask. That’s precisely why diversity in newsrooms is so important.”

Rennie Rijpma, editor-in-chief of AD
