DPG Media meets sustainability goals for 2025

20/04/2026

A future-proof media company can only exist within the boundaries of our planet. That is why DPG Media has set a mission to reduce CO2e emissions by 63% within twelve years: from 2023 onwards, we are aiming for an annual CO2e reduction of 5.25%. In 2025, however, the decrease reached an impressive 23%. As a result, the green sustainability target has been achieved by a wide margin, and we are ahead of schedule for our 2035 goal.

Structural sustainability efforts are paying off

The lead we have gained on our reduction path is partly due to structural steps taken regarding our buildings and the way we travel. The energy-efficient office building Mediavaert in Amsterdam, the purchase of renewably sourced wind energy for offices, printing facilities, and depots, and energy-saving measures in existing properties have led to a very sharp decline in CO2e emissions. An example of an energy-saving measure with significant positive impact is the heat pump in our Amsterdam printing facility.

Sustainable choices in the production chain

We are also seeing significant progress within our production chains. This is crucial, as nearly all of our emissions are located there: 97.6% in 2025. Our suppliers therefore play a key role in achieving our sustainability mission.

Greening the chain is achieved by obtaining comparable footprints from our suppliers. By working with them to improve sustainability or by selecting suppliers based partly on their environmental performance, we are able to steer specifically for impact. This targeted policy is proving effective: the newsprint we purchased for our own printing facilities in 2025 was 14% less CO2e-intensive than the year before. Additionally, the focus on sustainability has also greened our streaming and TV activities. The emissions per hour of produced content decreased by 9% in 2025 compared to 2023.

A Great Harvest!

We launched the 'A Great Harvest!' initiative to celebrate hitting our 2025 sustainability goals. We called on colleagues and partners to start planting now, ensuring that by late 2026, we’ll have another successful harvest to celebrate together.
