It was announced today, Thursday 14 June 2018, that MEDIALAAN is investing in brand new, state of the art radio studios for Qmusic and Joe. The new radio studios will be located near the entrance to the MEDIALAAN building in Vilvoorde, making them clearly visible for visitors to the building. The work, involving an investment of 3.1 million euro, will start in September 2018. The relocation of the radio studios and editorial department, from the second floor to the ground floor, is planned for March 2019.
An Caers, Director Radio Operations: “Our current studios have been in use for more than 10 years. High time for an upgrade. We are building new, state of the art studios for our two radio stations, which visitors to MEDIALAAN will be able to see and hear as they arrive. The new studios, which combine audio and video, will enable us to handle future innovations and, more than ever, engage in digital initiatives.”
Hans Bonte, Mayor of Vilvoorde: “We are particularly pleased that MEDIALAAN decided to strengthen the presence of its two radio stations, Qmusic and Joe, in our city. It is becoming increasingly clear that the merger of MEDIALAAN and Persgroep Publishing will further reinforce the media sector in Vilvoorde. Significant new investment by logistic media players (including Lites and Videohouse), the further development of entertainment and online activities, the arrival of production companies and the dynamics of the many media players will ensure that the Vilvoorde media sector develops a more prominent presence than ever before. The merger between MEDIALAAN and Persgroep Publishing will result in even more people being employed in the Vilvoorde media sector. The highly sophisticated radio studios of Qmusic and Joe are a truly great advertisement for Vilvoorde as the leading media city in Flanders.”
The new radio studios will cover an area of 1200 m², accommodating approximately 100 people who will work there on a daily basis. In addition to the renovation of the entire infrastructure of the studios, a new studio will be added to accommodate performances by artists. All radio studios will be equipped with more cameras and a separate video production room will also be included.
Qmusic and Joe reach out to 1.13 million listeners every day.
